Noordwijk is a must for dog owners. It is – or was – an insider tip. The Dutch are a lot more dog-friendly than the Germans, so there’s that. In Noordwijk one of the Beach Pavillions even has offers for dogs on the menue and a treat ready for every new arrival. I have never seen so many dogs in one place and mine had the time of his life.
The beach has two large stretches where dogs are allowed without a leash all year round. Most restaurants / pavillions, allow them in, all of them allow them on the terrace. The Take2 is, of course, my favourite.
The first time we went in 2014. It was very warm and beautiful so I was really not very proud of myself to have forgotten my camera at the hotel during the most glorious sunset I’ve ever seen. So the next time, that is to say this year, I kept a close eye on the weather and made sure I had my camera ready.
The picture looks warm enough, but it wasn’t. It was an interesting mix of weather: sunny and hot followed by thunderstorms and rain followed by icy winds. The picture was taken during a period of the last. My friend had already gotten herself into the warmth of another pavillion while I faught the wind and the flying sand to take the pictures I so longed for. So, here’s one of them.
