This is one of the most magical places Germany has to offer. Many people who come to see the Königssee in Bavaria miss this spot, because most people take the boat to St. Bartholomä and back. The real trick is to go beyond St. Bartholomä to Salet and walk a little further. Then you’ll come out exactly right here. The snowcapped mountains you can see in the back are what the locals call ‚Steinernes Meer‘. You can take trips up there but it’ll take about 11 hours, they say. There are shorter trips, too. I believe the fact that you can only get here by boat and only during certain months of the year is part of the beauty of this place. Something hidden, something special.
