Eagle’s Nest

Although this building, a widely known tourist attraction, has a very important and also disturbing history, I never realized this fact when I came to visit it for the first time(s). That’s because I was a child and not interested in stuff like that. Also, I’m not sure my parents actually knew. We didn’t travel for reason of historical awareness and that is written without any complaint or sarcasm.

I don’t know how many times I’ve been there but I remember that one time I took a certain postcard with me. To this day it’s one of my favourite fotos: the postcards shows the Eagle’s Nest in the very early morning, sun just rising over a sea of clouds. Just above them the House on it’s rocky throne. I don’t know where the postcard went but believe it or not: they still sell that exact one. So I got a substitute!

One day I’ll be up there at night and shoot the Milky Way, I swear! There is potential for some truely breathtaking fotos there. This one is pretty standard but it reminds me of the hundreds of fotos of our trips to bavaria when I was a child – so we’re talking 80s here. They all had that coloring and style…
